Technological enhancements have improved the ability for eye care providers to manage and detect eye diseases, aid in fitting difficult contact lenses, and keep accurate patient records. Our office keeps up to date on all the latest technological advances to ensure the best quality care for our patients. We offer state of the art digital retinal photography. which gives us a more complete view of the back of your eye (the retina) than has previously been possible. Click here to read more about it. Corneal topography is non-invasive medical imaging technique for mapping the curvature of the cornea, the outer structure at the front of the eye. Since the cornea is normally responsible for some 70% of the eye's refractive power, its curvature is of critical importance in determining the quality of vision and can be used to assist in difficult contact lens fitting, refractive surgery, orthokeratology and keratoconus. Peripheral vision testing is important to detect for problems associated with the eye, optic nerve and brain. The Humphrey Visual Field Analyzer is the gold standard in visual field instrumentation. Pachymetry is the measurement of the corneal thickness with ultrasound. This measurement is essential prior to having any type of laser vision correction surgery and an important test in the early detection of glaucoma. Digital Slit Lamp Imaging enables our doctors to properly manage and identify problems on the front surface of your eye. Some common conditions are viral infections, corneal foreign body, and corneal ulcers can be digitally documented in your records. Electronic Medical Records (EMRs) may be mandated by the federal government by 2014, but we are proud to be ahead of the curve at Dr. Richlin & Associates. We have been using a full EMR since 2005, so that we may maintain complete and precise records for all of your eyecare needs. Using the Electronic Record system also allows us to be as environmentally friendly as possible. In conjunction with our technologically advanced examination equipment, we are able to provide the best quality eyecare possible from the moment you contact us, all the way through your treatment with our staff.
