Taking your child for a comprehensive eye exam is the most important thing you can do for your child's eye health. We can complete this test even if your child doesn't know their ABC's. We use shapes, animals and other child friendly ways to evaluate vision and eye health.

That's why we recommend a comprehensive eye examination for every child beginning at 3 years of age, and sooner if problems are suspected. Good vision is critical to your child's ability to learn. All children must have the tools they need to succeed, and that begins with eyesight, which ensures they can see a bright future.

Many children accept poor vision and other eye ailments as normal. A parent can be the first to detect early symptoms such as:

• Covering one eye when looking at an object
• Rubbing of eyes or excessive blinking
